2017 Beitou Fresh Festival: See a New Summer Side to Beitou

Organized by the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government, the 2017 Beitou Cooling Summer Festival is ready to open to the public this coming weekend. Beitou offers more than just hot springs: people can now enjoy music, dance, shaved ice and fun family time. The festival has many fun surprises in store for visitors—two spectacular night events plus the Imura Daikichi’s Hot Spring Paradise Exhibition.
The first night event, Mid-Summer Watermelon Ice Mountain Paradise, will be open to the public at Xinbeitou Qixing Park on July 1 and 2. The ice extravaganza will weave a fantasy for the five senses. Taiwanese rock band Jia-zi Motor Big Band will take centre stage at the picnic concert. Traditional and modern versions of shaved ice will be available, along with renowned handicraft products and farmers’ produce. A huge pool filled with ice and floating watermelons will be stationed at the heart of the grassland. Visitors can also pop into the open air movie theater. Beitou is awaiting the public with a new look.
On July 22 and 23 a forest concert featuring Ji Shu-ling, Huang Mu-Ge and ET Chen will take place next to Beitou Hot Spring Museum. Joining them on stage will be acoustic guitar duo WoodyWoody and Israeli hang master Liron Man. Hands-on workshops will be held at the flower-themed handicraft market, creating a vision of a cool and refreshing summer.
