Ryuichi Sakamoto with Shiro Takatani 2 IS YOUR TIME—TPE: Coming to Taiwan for the first time soon
Known as the “godfather of new music” in Japan, Ryuichi Sakamoto will be exhibiting IS YOUR TIME at Taipei Music Center with Shiro Takatani, a Japanese visual artist and theater director.
After the 3/11 Tsunami, Ryuichi Sakamoto came across a devastated piano at Natorikita High School in Miyagi Prefecture. He felt the power of nature had taken a musical instrument symbolic of modernity and turned it back into a mere object. In an attempt to revive the music, he started making art with Shiro Takatani.
In 2017, they exhibited the installation artwork IS YOUR TIME at ICC (Tokyo). The work allows viewers to listen to and experience the space of music. Now, for the first time this work will be exhibited in Taiwan. Ryuichi Sakamoto and Shiro Takatani invite you to experience and feel the space of music.
