Prodigy of the Generation—The Chen Chih-Yuan Special Exhibition
Introduction Who is Chen Chih-Yuan? The name probably doesn’t ring a bell for most people, or perhaps only a very faint one. You might remember seeing the name in the liner notes of music cassettes you saw when you were very young. But in fact, the name “Chen Chih-Yuan” appeared in thousands of album liner notes during the folk music era of the 1980s, when he was at his most brilliant. In those days more than half the top 50 songs in the charts were composed by Chen. He relied on his keen sense of sound, inexhaustible creativity, and grand-concept arrangements to create hundreds of songs and close to 10,000 musical works during his 30-year-long career.
