“Baan Cult, Muang Cult,” a remake of the classic work by emerging Thai director Wichaya Artamat, is a unique metaphorical exploration of Thailand’s societal blind faith and worship. The performance features a double-sided stage, telling the story of two apartments and four people and weaving their parallel lives into a sharp reflection on social structure. It offers a profound portrayal of contemporary Thai society and examines the three untouchable pillars of Thai society: religion, the military, and the monarchy.

“Leftover Market” is the latest dance work by Taiwanese feminist artist Pin-Wen Su, co-produced by the Taipei Performing Arts Center and the Centre National de la Danse in France. Building on the themes from her previous works “Girl’s Rehearsal” and the “Girl’s Notes” trilogy, this piece takes aim at societal expectations of “female” appearances, focusing on exploring the cultural and economic significance of the concept of “leftover women” and market-driven consumerism. It addresses social labels such as “older women” and “leftover women,” offering a fresh perspective that leads the audience to engage in a dialogue transcending language and cultural background in a collective reflection on contemporary gender power relations.
