TSO to present spring outdoor concert

(Photo courtesy of Taipei Symphony Orchestra) The Taipei Symphony Orchestra's (TSO) highly anticipated spring outdoor concert will hit the stage at Daan Forest Park this weekend March 31 and April 1.

In the upcoming "A Concert in a Forest," TSO has once again invited internationally renowned trumpeter Andrea Giuffredi and conductor Yang Chih-chin to perform several well-known opera numbers from their repertoire.

The program includes G. Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia Overture; R. Leoncavallo : Intermezzo from Pagliacci; Puccini Opera Fantasia:'Che Gelida manina' from La Boheme, 'Recondita armonia' from Tosca, and 'Nessun dorma' from Turandot; Saint-Saens : 'Bacchanale' from Samson et Dalila; International Pop Fantasy: "Love Story"; Piazolla : Libertango "My way"; A. Borodin : 'Polovtsian Dances' from Prince Igor and G. Verdi : Rigoletto Fantasia.

(Photo courtesy of Taipei Symphony Orchestra) Trumpeter Andrea Giuffredi has been served as the leading trumpeter in major Italian orchestras for more than 25 years. He is very active in international music circles and has received accolades in various music genres including classic, modern and jazz.

Enjoying a reputation for his expressive and unrestrained style and interpretative capability, Giuffredi has also collaborated with singers like George Michael for TV programs and participated in the tour with Luciano Pavarotti.

Yang, currently the conductor at Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, is known for his tender and emotional conducting style. He is good at interpreting composers' new works here and abroad as well as film scores.

It has also spared no effort in exchanging ideas with other orchestras and toured Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, US, Japan, Russia, France, Spain, China and other countries.

In recent years, the TSO has undertaken the task to create a "music-friendly" capital through giving community concerts and other programs.
