2022 Nuit Blanche Taipei

In continuation of long-held traditions of all-night, free-of-charge events open to civic participation,
2022 Nuit Blanche Taipei will run from 6 p.m., October 1 to 6 a.m., October 2. It will give people the opportunity to be naturally exposed to art, roam freely in urban spaces, and reconnect with one another in a post-pandemic era.

This year, the event features four exhibition areas and three experience modes. The selected venue is the charming district of Shilin, where tradition meets modernity. Entering the site is like walking straight onto a film set, with Shilin as a symbolic urban theater. 2022 Nuit Blanche Taipei will incorporate a special experience medium, combining physical activities with online participation and creating connections through virtual–real integration to provide a unique, one-of-a-kind experience.

Nuit Blanche Taipei will introduce a contemporary art intervention to uncover a different side of the city and conjure up the wildest imaginations of contemporary art. The four exhibition areas are:
Taipei Performing Arts Center, a newly opened arts and cultural hub where creative energies gather, traversing through architecture and future theater with the hope of igniting public imagination.
Shilin Night Market, one of the largest night markets in Taipei, a symbol of everyday life, and a bearer of the lives and memories of several generations. A place where many interactive performances are put on to uncover the market’s cultural heritage.
Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence, imbued with historical significance and a symbol of authority, later becoming a site for public leisure along with the changing times. Epic fairy tales for adults will unfold here and lead the public to reimagine the place.
Taipei Science and Art Park, integrating the National Taiwan Science Education Center, Taipei Astronomical Museum, Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, and Meilun Park, combining science and adventure to stage a fantastical adventure.

This year, Nuit Blanche Taipei will feature three experience modes, inviting the public to redefine how we experience art:
Mode 1: On-site Experience. Step outside your home and freely roam the alleys of the city to see the works in the flesh.
Mode 2: Home-based Online Experience. Stay at home and visit the official website on your mobile phone or computer to embark on the online version of Nuit Blanche Taipei.
Mode 3: Hybrid On-site/Online Experience. Walk among the physical art works in person, enter games using your mobile phone, and connect with others online to integrate virtual and real experiences through the online version of Nuit Blanche Taipei.
Visit Shilin to explore, experience, and embark on an adventure together to create broader, more profound, and more moving artistic encounters. With Nuit Blanche Taipei this year, get ready to encounter visual art and performance art works from a wide range of genres.
