Taipei Poetry Festival

About the festival:
The festival focuses on introducing Taiwanese and international poets and poetry, and show the beauties of verse to the public. Events include scholarly symposiums, a variety of poetry performances, including multidisciplinary performances, audiovisual presentations and animation, and medium and small-sized poetry recitals, aimed to help residents of Taipei be familiar with and appreciate poetry, so that reading and enjoying poetry will become a part of everyday life. The festival fosters poetry in three different directions: education and promotion, scholarly research, and publication and preservation, in the hope of achieving the following objectives
1. Encouraging Taipei's residents to take part in poetry recitals, symposiums and various kinds of promotional and educational activities, thus cultivating an understanding of local Taiwanese poetry, encouraging Taipei residents to read poetry, incorporating the beauty of poems into everyday life, and expanding the population of poetry readers.
2. Encouraging the composition and appreciation of poetry among Taipei residents, and thus building an atmosphere of poetic cultivation in Taipei.
3. Preserving traditional poetry creation and performance, and expanding the city's tradition of poetry education.
4. Fostering the spirit of the contemporary poetry community, and affirming the achievements of living poets.
