"A platform for creators, a space for dreamers," the Songyan Creative Hub in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (SCCP) was launched on Dec. 16, and offers creative professionals an exclusive workspace and interactive platform.

A number of cultural officials and heavyweights were present at its grand opening to raise the curtain, including Chung Yungfeng, Taipei Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) commissioner and CEO of Taipei Culture Foundation (TCF), TCF Chair Lee Yuan, TCF Vice CEOs Ann Yang and Chang Yisan, SCCP Executive Director Jasmine Chou, Matsuda Junbe, COO of Maker’s Base of Japan, and Wu Shengming, founder of Whole+ Architects & Planners.

The former tobacco-manufacturing factory-transformed innovative space is now home to some of the city’s emerging art creators, cultural and creative specialists and designers who either work solo orin small to midsized companies. An extensive survey of over 20 co-working spaces, platforms and labs in Taiwan was intensively carried out to make sure that the blueprint for Songyan Creative Hub would satisfy the users’ ideals and needs.

The plans were then carried out by the interior design of Whole+ Architects & Planners. With a long table that extends from one end to the other of the 100-meter-long, tube-like room, the idea is to allow the work teams in the space to share everything that is there, including the furniture, space and hopefully their innovative ideas.

The hub is open to a wide range of art types and media employed in creation, including gold work, wood working, pottery, weaving, digital production, art management, exhibitions, new media and so forth. As of now 18 brands have set up their workspaces in the hub, which is also expected to receive international work teams in the near future.

The users can also hold product presentations, seminars, workshops and business meetings in the hub. Other facilities include professional tools andmachines. Visitors are also invited to participate in hands-on activities. For more information, please go to: http://www.songyancreativehub.taipei.
