The Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum was converted from his former residence on Chongqing South Road in downtown Taipei City, where he had lived from 1980 until his death in 2006. In honor of Sun’s extraordinary contributions to Taiwanese economic development, Taipei City Government designated his former residence as the municipal historic site in 2006.

Open to the public in October 30, 2014, the museum houses the permanent display of his handwritten diaries, manuscripts, photographs, and personal items belonging to Sun and his wife. The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), founded by Sun to help Taiwan make a quantum leap from an agricultural to an industrial society, is also holding a special exhibition at the museum. The event will run until March 15, 2015.

There’s a garden in front of the museum. The garden includes Sun’s favorite pond, sweet osmanthus grown by his wife, and a few old living trees.

The establishment of the museum aims to highlight Sun’s major contributions and provide an urban retreat with art, culture and technology for citizens and visitors from here and overseas.
