Big Power from Tiny Movements: Stop-Motion Animation Exhibition
November 11, 2022 to May 7, 2023 The exhibition brings together Huang Yun-Hsien (黃勻弦) and Zhang Xu-Zhan (張徐展), two artists who have inherited their families’ traditional crafts. Huang Yun-Hsien was born to a Changhua dough figurine craft family and is currently director of TurnRhino Original Design Studio (旋轉犀牛原創設計工作室). He creates puppet animations inspired by his family’s dough craft, telling local Taiwanese stories through societal observation and self-analysis. Zhang Xu-Zhan was born in Xinzhuang and is heir to the 100-year-old Hsin Hsin Joss Paper Store (新興糊紙店). He integrates paper-making techniques into contemporary art work, striking sparks between the two art forms to create unique paper puppet animations.
