Treasure Hill Artist Village to hold free events on the weekend
The Treasure Hill Artist Village, a former veterans' community in Taipei City's Gongguan area, will offer a series of art events to the public for free on the weekend.
The free events on March 24 and 25 include the AIR Overlapping Group Exhibition I, DIY activities, a two-day food party and concert.
Participating artists for the joint exhibition are Sunny Su of Taiwan and Yannick Cariot of France, Chung Hee Han of South Korea and Don Salubayba of the Philippines, Chie Koda of Japan, Vera Chen of Taiwan, Jorge Bachman of the US, and the Traffic Jam – a project-based collective that unites international artists in an urban environment.
After the opening ceremony of the joint exhibition at the Cross Gallery on Saturday afternoon, they will guide visitors through their artworks in the Taipei-based village.
Jewelry artist Lu Hsueh-fen will offer DIY classes of metal art. Visitors can take part in the classes without advance reservation but prices may vary based on types of materials used.
Jiandyin (Jiradej Meemalai and Pornpilai Meemalai) are an artist duo, based in Bangkok, who have become well-known over the past eight years for their sculpture and performance works.
They will hold a Thai-Taiwanese potluck at the artist village. Those interested in this event should sign up in advance via e-mail (info.jiandyin@gmail.com) and bring one of Taiwanese dishes including Beef Scrap Soup, Clam Soup, Simmered Bean Curd, Simmered Egg, Cooked Meat Balls, and Simmered Seaweed.
Six performing groups on the list of the concert, named "Make an Indie Tree: Code of Spring" at the Historical Facade of the Taipei-based village, are EggplantEgg, Youth Banana, Silverbus, Autumn Tea, Under the Moon, and U. TA.
